Apple Crunch Pie

1 pie crust, unbaked

1 can apple pie filling

Place pie crust into pie pan. Pour pie filling into unbaked pie shell.

Mix together crunch topping:

3 TBSP butter, softened

4 TBSP flour

⅓ cup brown sugar

⅓ cup oatmeal

½ cup chopped pecans

½ tsp cinnamon

⅛ tsp cloves

⅛ tsp cardamom

⅛ tsp ground coriander

Top with crunch topping.

Fold over edges of crust.

Brush crust edges with 1 TBSP melted butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar.

Bake in a 350° oven for 30 minutes or until crust is golden brown and bottom of pie is done.

This is delicious served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or try some warm caramel sauce.

  1. Oh my Helen! This looks amazing! Really like the idea of the warm caramel sauce. Going to try this one. But I've never used Cardamom before. Is it similar to nutmeg maybe?

  2. Hi Shari! It is called the "Queen of Spices". It is used in breads, fruit dishes, danish pastries and apple desserts. Anyway that's what the jar says. It adds a little something extra to the flavor of the apple pie.
